Scuba Diving in Brazil

Why is scuba diving in Brazil so fantastic? With more than 4,600 miles of coastline, this part of the world is a divers’ paradise.

There are numerous areas to explore when it comes to scuba diving in Brazil. In fact, it’s hard not to stumble upon a great diving spot no matter where your travels take you. The only thing to remember is to double check to make sure that you are diving in an authorized spot…just in case you stumble upon some protected waters. That said, let’s begin with eh Amazon River Basin. This area is popular due to the large number of unusual creatures that call the area home.

You will find lots of endangered flora, fauna, and various others bits of interesting life within the Amazon River Basin. To reach this destination, travel to the town of Manaus. This town will allow you to access the Amazon’s tributaries including the Rios Negro, the Ariau, and the Anavilhana Creek. From this point, you will have to book a small boat or find a tour cruise to take you through the area. Within this area there are more than 5,000 species of birds, animals, and other types of life. Another great spot to explore is Fernando de Noronha.

Fernando de Noronha is approximately 200 miles off the northeastern coast. This area includes a large section of twenty-one different islands all waiting to be explored. The only catch is that most travelers will have to stay overnight in the town next to Fernando de Noronha, since most airlines do not fly directly into this area. If you have some extra time, you will find that there are lots of sunken ships, treasures, and aquatic life to investigate (including the popular spinner dolphin). There are lots of other scuba diving in Brazil areas to explore, so make sure to research the following spots to the fullest extent.

Take the time to find tours through Salvador Bahia, Abrolhos, Pantanal & Bonito, and the Igacu Falls. No matter where you go, you will find that this land was practically made for enthusiastic divers.

From those amazing Amazon areas to the smaller towns in between, spend a few weeks traveling through the heart of this great diving land. Scuba diving in Brazil is far more than you might think…make sure not to miss out on this trip of a lifetime.
