Scuba Diving in Puerto Rico

When it comes to trips of a lifetime, scuba diving Puerto rice is definitely up there. There are numerous parts of this island to explore from east to west.

The North area of the island tends to fall prey to some heavy northerly swells. Due to this fact, divers tend to avoid this portion of the island. However, there are some dive sites worth exploring if you want to brave the waters. The eastern portion of the island is relatively shallow allowing for easy dives. Coupled with easy waters, the east is ideal if you want to view white sands, great reefs, and lots of gorgonians. In addition to these parts, the Culebra area is known for being one of the best scuba diving Puerto rice spots.

Some dive shops will take tourists to Culebra, though most of them do not venture to this area. The boat ride itself will take around two hours, which is why this kind of charter must be arranged ahead of time. A better alternative to booking a boat is to take the ferry to the island and dive from the shores. If you are heading to the South, you will find that there are lots of dive shops within this area. Spots along Guanica and La Parguera are quickly becoming quite popular with divers. Those heading to the West will find Mona and Desecheo –two islands that are certainly worth your time. If you want to head to Mona you will need to rent a car. Desecheo can be reached by boat, though it can only be accessed when the waters are calm.

There are more than one hundreds scuba diving Puerto rice spots throughout this island. Grab a good tour book while you are within this area in order to view all the spots that might interest you. Along with an amazing array of aquatic life you will also find lots of coral reefs, wrecks, and some interesting caverns and caves underneath these warm waters. Many years ago, this part of the world was not heavily hounded for its dive offerings. Today, all of this has changed as Puerto Rico welcomes hundreds of dive fans every year.

No matter what you might be looking for, you are bound to find it hidden within these islands. While it’s a lot of fun to relax on the beach, exploring the underwater world is truly enchanting.

Whether you head to the North or to the West, scuba diving Puerto rice will be an exciting trip to remember. Start planning your trip today… you never know what you might discover hidden underneath those lovely waters.
